Chihuahua

The Chihuahua is a popular dog in the toy breed category that has a mysterious place of organ. It is thought the Chihuahua was owned by the Aztecs in the fifth century A.D. often because they were found in the ruins of the palace of Emperor Montezuma in 1850. This breed is known to have come from Mexico and was first shown in the United States in 1890 before being recognized by the AKC in 1904.

The Chihuahua is counted as a toy breed because of its size. Many breeders have attempted to mix the breed with larger dogs without much success. It is recommended to any pet owner to ensure the breed of their dog is authentic. Mixed breeds can carry health issues and scares that may result in a fatality if gone undetected. Many toy breeds such as the Chihuahua often have noticeable characteristics such as the apple shaped head that may lead the owner to believe it’s a pure bred. 

 The protective nature of this toy breed will astound even the most questioned owner. This breed is known for disregarding its own size and challenging larger breeds with fierce fearlessness. Although this tough breed challenges others around him, it is often very affectionate with one or two family members in the household. The Chihuahua often seeks personal attention from specific family members, never leaving their side. This breed views their family as a sense of territory and will often seek to defend the family at any chance they have. 

Due to their protective natures they make great watchdogs. They are wary of strangers and will react when necessary when they think danger is near. They make great companions even for elderly people, many times not leaving their owners side. This makes this breed ideal for the elderly owner or children. This breed is known for its loyalty and commitment to its owners. 

 Chihuahuas often challenge bigger animals and are not suited for homes with younger children. This breed irritates very easily yet has a strong sense of loyalty to its owners. This breed will often never leave its owner’s side making it an ideal pet for the elderly.  Often this breed is described as a low maintenance breed. Owners seeking the extra protection should seek a larger pet. Although smaller in size and possessing the personality of a larger dog, the Chihuahua is always out number or outsized when protecting any owner’s home. 

 Health issues that may plague this breed are patellar lunation, hemophilia, pulmonic stenosis, eye problems, cystinuria, mitral valve heart disease, hydrocephalus, demodicosis, undefended testes, collapsing tracheas, kcs,  jaw bone disorders, heart murmurs, seizures, hypoglycemia, rheumatism fractures, epilepsy and dental problems. This dog requires frequent exercise to prevent many of the health issues but can remain indoors to achieve the activity requirement.
