What you feed your dog will have an impact on their happiness as well as their health. You might realize that there are some things that humans and dogs have in common and that is proper diet and nutrient. Both are also omnivore, which means both need vegetables and meat to stay healthy. We need the same things as a dog such as minerals, vitamins, fats, carbohydrates and protein. Both need plenty of water as well to keep the body healthy.
Feeding Your Dog
Your dog needs to be according to their lifestyle, shape, size and age. If you have a German Shepherd that runs the yard guarding the property, they need an entirely different diet than a Pekingese that lays around in the house and barks at the mailman. If the dog is a pregnant female, she will need a different diet than a male. The puppies will need more nutrients to grow and develop while becoming stronger. If the dog is older, he or she will need a different type of food for older less active dogs.
Because of the different needs, you need to know which food is right for your dog and what foods they should not have available to them. Overfeeding is another concern for dog owners. By giving to much food, you could actually be doing more harm than good. A dog that eats too much and is less active can become overweight and have a higher risk of contracting diabetes.
You will find many different kinds of food, but most of them contain the right amount of nutrients. You can choose from canned foods, dry foods and semi-moist foods. There are also dog snacks for those times when they are rally good dogs. However, you do not want to over do it on the snacks. If you keep all this information in mind, you should be able to give your dog a healthy diet and a happy life.
